Our approach to mind-body treatment

Our integrated approach addresses cellular, genetic and biochemical markers that will directly improve your pain and energy levels. Working together, we will help re-find that energy and sense of purpose that chronic conditions all too often erode from our lives.

Chronic health issues mean you are not only in near-constant physical pain, but you also need to navigate mental pain. It is an all-encompassing type of stress that can dramatically impact your motivation to work and enjoy your life. Sadly, chronic pain often ends in depression and self-medication via alcohol and drugs.

However, just because some of your symptoms may appear chronic does not mean all of them have to stay forever. Our 360-degree treatment method will effectively minimise the pain and suffering that accompanies chronic ailments or disabilities. Because our treatment programmes are tailored to each unique client, we can provide the care and time required to restore each molecule to full health.

We can only tailor a programme to you if we know where the pain lies. Using our 360-interdisciplinary approach, your team will identify every possible area of your health and well-being requiring attention and re-balancing. This forms the bedrock of your treatment programme.

From 24-hour ECG monitoring and HRV testing to stress echocardiography and full-body MRIs, our advanced diagnostics tools will identify each possible area of your health and well-being that requires re-balancing. By taking a functional medicine approach to diagnostics, we are able to pinpoint any underlying issues that are present such as inflammation, gut imbalances, toxin exposure, nutritional deficiencies, parasites, or heavy metal accumulation.

Chronic conditions bring a great deal of emotional stress with them, which often exacerbates your physical pain and suffering. Your psychotherapist will help you process some of this pain – from mourning the loss of your previous life to managing the anger that comes with that it’s not fair feeling; we can help you come to terms with the reality of a chronic health issue. Your psychologist will assist you in creating sustainable coping mechanisms for dealing with these emotional ripple effects.

Working with a live-in therapist means that therapy can happen as and when needed rather than waiting for the designated therapy slot to come around. We find that the most effective therapy happens in the moments between official therapy sessions and when symptoms are particularly pronounced, like when making a mid-morning coffee or at 3 am.

Working alongside your psychotherapists, your psychiatrist will oversee your programme, ensuring your mental well-being is given the utmost care. Our psychiatrists take a precision psychiatry approach, designing your treatment based on your unique biological and psychological profile. Chronic health conditions significantly increase the likelihood of developing a mental health issue, and your psychiatrist will help determine whether you may be facing one. If necessary, they can provide a mental health diagnosis and/or prescribe medication to support your recovery.

At Paracelsus Recovery, we are passionate supporters of the psychedelic revolution in chronic condition treatment. In some cases, we can provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy to support your recovery, which we will gladly do when appropriate.

Biochemical restoration is a branch of functional medicine that aims to ensure that a person’s mind and body have all of the chemicals and building blocks required to function optimally. This approach is particularly vital for individuals with chronic health conditions as it addresses the nutritional and biochemical imbalances that often contribute to or exacerbate these conditions.

By restoring balance, clients frequently experience improvements in their overall well-being and a noticeable reduction in symptoms, such as persistent cravings or fatigue.

We integrate bespoke physical therapies into your programme to support holistic healing and recovery from chronic health conditions. These therapies, which include physiotherapy, yoga, pilates, equine therapy, dog therapy, and massage, are designed to ease physical tension, cultivate a deeper connection with your body, and restore its natural balance. By addressing both physical and emotional well-being, these practices are vital for promoting long-term recovery and an improved quality of life.

Our psycho-nutrition and dietitian team will design personalised nutrition plans to help restore your physical and mental balance, addressing any deficiencies caused by your chronic condition. In addition to bespoke dietary guidance, the team will support you in making a range of lifestyle adjustments, such as managing stress, improving sleep hygiene, and tackling any other factors contributing to elevated stress levels.

The mind-body connection lies at the heart of our holistic approach to health, longevity and well-being. Each treatment programme will include wellness treatments that we believe will help you in your recovery journey. Access to the Dolder Grand Spa, recipient of the renowned ‘Best Spa in Europe’ award, is also included.

Alongside treating your chronic condition, we address any other physical medical issues you may have. No matter the issues you are facing, such as pain, cardiovascular, hormonal, sexual health, dental, or skin, to give just some examples, they will be diagnosed and addressed by our specialist doctors.
