WHAT WE TREAT

Rehab for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

When it comes to ADHD, our number one aim is to help you create robust coping strategies so that your symptoms can become an asset instead of a roadblock.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurological condition developed during childhood that can persist well into adulthood. It is characterised by consistently high levels of hyperactivity and/or inattention which interferes with a person’s life and well-being. ADHD can be difficult to live with as it can make a person feel exhausted and uncomfortable in their own skin, making it hard to find long-lasting joy in their passions, relationships or life. The toll this takes can lead to numerous other mental health conditions like anxiety and depression as well as substance abuse issues to self-medicate symptoms.

While ADHD can be challenging, it is also linked to elevated levels of creativity and intelligence and is quite a common mental health condition in affluent families and environments. Many successful CEOs refer to it as a great asset once they have developed the skills to manage their symptoms and can live their life to the fullest.

There are three types of ADHD: predominantly inattentive ADHD, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive ADHD and combined hyperactive-impulsive and inattentive ADHD. Depending on the type of ADHD a person has, they may experience some or all of the following symptoms.

Inattention

  • Frequent careless mistakes in school or at work.
  • Difficulty focusing on a single task.
  • Inability to listen even when spoken to directly.
  • Poor time management and organisational skills.
  • Frequently losing essential things, e.g. school materials, tools, keys, wallet, paperwork, phone, etc.
  • Easily distracted, often without even realising.

Hyperactivity

  • Low tolerance for frustration and stress.
  • Restlessness, fidgeting, and trouble sitting still.
  • Speaking excessively: often interrupting people or blurting out answers.
  • Feeling very impatient, e.g. struggling to wait for one’s turn or stand in queues.
  • Highly impulsive behaviour, e.g. making risky decisions without thinking them through.
  • Difficulty controlling one’s emotions.
