Psychotherapy Treatment

At Paracelsus Recovery, we adopt an entirely holistic treatment model, with psychotherapy treatment playing an integral role The aim of psychotherapy is to provide you with the space and support needed to think through the questions you have about yourself and your suffering; both consciously and unconsciously.

What is psychotherapy?

Our minds, like our bodies, are constantly attempting to heal. However, in order to do so, we must process and release painful emotions. When we feel trapped in destructive cycles of behaviour, our mind is attempting to bring unresolved feelings to the surface. Every time we are confronted with the same pain, our unconscious mind hopes that this time we will be able to process the pain and trauma. However, that is a significant task to undertake on your own. That is where psychotherapy comes in.

What are the different types of psychotherapy?

There are many different types of psychotherapy, and your specific psychotherapists will tailor the treatment to your specific needs. Some common types include:

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT): Concentrates on improving interpersonal relationships and communication skills.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours.

Psychodynamic Therapy: Explores the unconscious processes and past experiences that influence current behaviour.

Hypnotherapy: Utilises deep relaxation to access the unconscious mind, helping to uncover and address underlying emotional triggers, break negative behavioural patterns, and promote healing at a subconscious level.

Psychoanalysis: A deeper form of psychodynamic therapy, psychoanalysis delves into the unconscious mind to explore repressed thoughts and feelings, often through free association and dream analysis.

Humanistic Therapy: Emphasises self-exploration and personal growth, fostering self-acceptance and self-awareness.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): Primarily used for emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness, often applied in cases of borderline personality disorder.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Aims to help individuals process and manage their emotions effectively.
