Types of therapy
At Paracelsus Recovery, we include spa treatments as part of our comprehensive treatment programmes. By integrating spa treatments with traditional therapy, we help our clients enjoy improved relaxation, emotional balance, and physical well-being as they progress along the path to recovery.
What spa treatments are available?
Spa treatments can play a supportive role in mental health and addiction recovery by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and helping the body and mind to heal. While they are in no way a substitute for professional therapy or medical treatment, they can complement recovery programmes by fostering emotional well-being and physical rejuvenation. The path to recovery is rarely smooth and there are moments when the experience feels undeniably challenging, but spa treatments offer a way to bring a little more comfort to the journey.
A key element of spa treatments is hydrotherapy, also known as water therapy. This involves various water-based activities and treatments such as hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, floating therapy, cold water immersion, and contrast therapy (alternating between hot and cold water). Beyond water therapy, spa treatments include other therapies such as massage therapy, aromatherapy, and sound therapy that aim to reduce stress, ease tension, and induce relaxation. In addition, detoxifying body wraps and skin treatments are common spa treatments that support the body’s natural healing process. Furthermore, beauty treatments are available, ranging from facials and hair removal to pedicures and grooming.
What are spa treatments helpful for?
Spa treatments can be highly beneficial for mental health and addiction recovery, offering both physical and emotional support during the healing process. They help reduce stress, improve relaxation, and promote overall well-being, making them valuable complementary therapies alongside professional treatment. Many of the spa therapies we offer our clients, such as massage, hydrotherapy, and aromatherapy, encourage the release of endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, which are essential for mood regulation and can help counteract the effects of stress, anxiety, and withdrawal symptoms. These treatments also aid in improving sleep, reducing muscle tension, and boosting body awareness, all of which are conducive to enhancing emotional stability and supporting recovery.
In addiction recovery, the spa therapies we use can support detoxification, ease withdrawal symptoms, and help individuals rebuild a positive relationship with their bodies. Treatments like saunas, steam rooms, and hydrotherapy promote circulation, balance the nervous system, and assist in the body’s natural healing processes. Additionally, mindfulness-based spa practices, such as sound therapy and floating therapy encourage emotional resilience, self-awareness, and relaxation, which can help prevent relapse. Last but not least, beauty treatments play an important role in recovery, helping you look after yourself on the outside as well as the inside. By integrating spa treatments into our holistic treatment approach, individuals recovering from addiction or struggling with mental health conditions can experience enhanced emotional regulation, reduced cravings, and an improved sense of well-being.
