Types of therapy
At Paracelsus Recovery, we adopt a holistic treatment model, with bioresonance and biofeedback playing an integral role. Bioresonance and biofeedback are both therapeutic methods to gain a deeper understanding of what is going on inside your body so you can take the right steps to optimise your health. Biofeedback helps with physiological awareness and control, while bioresonance is used to target energetic or cellular-level imbalances.
What are biofeedback & bioresonance?
Biofeedback and bioresonance are both techniques that use body signals to heal the mind-body connection and optimise health. Both approaches involve monitoring biological information and then providing a form of feedback but they operate in different ways and are based on distinct underlying principles.
Biofeedback is a tool used in a functional medicine approach that involves real-time monitoring of physical data to improve bodily control and regulation. As part of biofeedback therapy, you learn to consciously control some of your body’s normally involuntary functions such as your breathing patterns, heart rate and muscle responses using a variety of techniques. It involves being connected via electrical pads to a device that gathers real-time data about your body’s responses. The device monitors physiological signals such as heart rate, brainwaves, muscle tension, skin temperature and respiratory rate. Through visual or auditory feedback, you then learn to consciously regulate these “involuntary” functions, often using relaxation or concentration techniques. In doing so, you can override your body’s response to stress. This facilitates a healthier physical and mental stress response, helping to mitigate the effects of chronic stress on your body.
What are the benefits of biofeedback & bioresonance?
Both biofeedback and bioresonance offer various benefits that make them valuable elements of comprehensive and integrative mental health and addiction treatment programmes.
Biofeedback is helpful for treating numerous physical and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), sleep disorders, chronic pain and chemotherapy side effects. As a primary goal of biofeedback is to combat stress through relaxation techniques, it is particularly effective in treating conditions where stress and anxiety are involved. Managing the stress response in the body also helps the body prepare for sleep, making it beneficial for treating sleep disorders such as insomnia. In the case of ADHD, certain biofeedback techniques can help improve focus, decrease impulsivity and manage symptoms. When it comes to pain, biofeedback can be helpful for reducing the intensity and frequency of chronic pain. In general terms, by increasing awareness and control over physiological processes, biofeedback can help individuals achieve a healthier mind-body balance. Over time and with practice, individuals can learn to self‐regulate without the need for feedback screens, expanding their awareness of the thoughts, feelings and behaviours related to their body. Biofeedback is safe, noninvasive and has few, if any, side effects. There is growing research into the efficacy of biofeedback, with particularly strong evidence for treating certain conditions such as stress and chronic pain.
How are biofeedback & bioresonance included in my programme?
At Paracelsus Recovery, we use biofeedback and bioresonance as part of our integrative approach to mental health and addiction recovery. We combine these mind-body therapies with traditional treatment methods and various holistic therapies to facilitate robust, long-lasting recovery. Both biofeedback and bioresonance treatment sessions take place in our private therapy rooms or in the comfort of your own apartment. The frequency and duration of treatment will depend on your unique needs, circumstances and treatment goals.
